1. What is the UTI-Diag project?

The UTI-Diag project is an initiative funded by the European Union, aimed at improving the diagnosis and management of urinary tract infections through innovative diagnostic tools. The project focuses particularly on resource-limited areas, such as Sub-Saharan Africa, where urinary tract infections and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are major public health issues.

The project is led by a consortium of 11 international organizations, including academic institutions, research centers, technology companies, and public health organizations, such as:

  • Karolinska Institutet (KI) – Sweden

  • Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) – Senegal

  • Centre Pasteur of Cameroon (CPC) – Cameroon

  • Market Access Africa MAA Healthcare Company (MAA) – South Africa

  • Aviro Med Design Pty Ltd Health (Aviro) – South Africa

  • Teesside University (TU) – UK

  • Albert-Ludwigs-Universität University of Freiburg (UFR) – Germany

  • Global Access Diagnostics (GADx) – UK

  • Capitainer AB (CAP) – Sweden

  • Aidian Oy (AIDIAN) – Finland

  • Pasteur Network (PN) – France

The primary target groups of the project are:

  • Healthcare professionals: Doctors, biologists, pharmacists.

  • Institutions, industry partners, and donors: Universities, research laboratories, biotechnology companies, etc.

  • The general public: Patients, patient associations.

  • The media: Local, regional, and international media.
